Dr. Foster is past president of the American Heart Association's South Carolina affiliate, and has served on its board of directors. He also served as the chief of the Department of Cardiology and director of the Cardiac Rehab program at Providence Health, which is nationally recognized for its cardiovascular services and program. He was also president of the South Carolina Heart Center. He is also a clinical assistant professor of medicine at the University of South Carolina School of Medicine, and is Principal Investigator in five clinical trials. After earning his MD at Indiana University School of Medicine, Dr. Foster served an internship at Boston University Affiliated Hospital. He completed residencies at Indiana University Medical Center and University Hospital, Boston University Medical Center. He completed his fellowship in cardiology at Tufts University School of Medicine and Boston Veterans Administration Medical Center. He is certified in Internal Medicine, Cardiovascular Disease, and Interventional Cardiology.
In 2016, he was inducted into the prestigious Society of Saint Luke, established to celebrate and honor physicians and leaders for their distinguished service to patients and their service to the community. You can read his extended bio here in the news statement.
